Campeonato Mundial Australia 2006

Como todos saben, entre el 14 y el 16 de septiembre realizaremos el 8º Campeonato Mundial Juvenil de Taekwon-do ITF, en el Arena Geelong, en la ciudad de Geeelong, Australia.

Por tal motivo es que viajé el pasado 8 de junio a la ciudad de Melbourne donde dicté el 4º Curso Internacional de Árbitros, al que concurrieron una gran cantidad de Instructores, y como siempre, no perdí la oportunidad de deslizarme por algunos aspectos técnicos, que siempre resultan de gran valor.

Después del curso asistí al Campeonato Selectivo Juvenil de la región Sur para el Mundial.

El nivel técnico fue bueno, siguiendo prácticamente las pautas del Reglamento Oficial, con algunos cambios domésticos para facilitar el desarrollo de la competencia. La organización fue impecable y estuvo a cargo del Instructor Michael Muleta, esto, marca que los australianos están trabajando seriamente.

No caben dudas que Michael Muleta y su grupo de colaboradores están realizando una gran labor con respecto a la organización del Campeonato Mundial –el primero que se realiza en el continente de Oceanía- y que se encuentra muy adelantado en cuanto a todos los detalles de puesta en marcha.

La ciudad de Geelong es pequeña, segura y su gente es amable, sencilla y sensible a toda manifestación deportiva. Verifiqué el estadio y me pareció de primer nivel, una muy buena elección. Los hoteles están cerca del estadio; el elegido para los árbitros del Campeonato y las autoridades de ITF es el Four Points Sheraton Geelong , frente a la bahía Corio, un lugar espectacular.

Nuestros competidores juveniles vivirán una gran experiencia ya que ésta será una verdadera fiesta deportiva, a la que confirmaron su participación más de 20 países.

Quiero agradecer a los Instructores que me acompañaron durante estos encuentros en Melbourne: Civi Cruc, Steven Weston, Noel Keating, Chris Galibert, y felicitar a Neil Cliff y Taso Kollis por sus nuevas graduaciones de VI y IV Dan respectivamente, a quienes tuve el honor de examinar. Y un especial agradecimiento a Michael Muleta por su esfuerzo y la tarea gigante de organizar el 8º Campeonato Mundial Juvenil.

Queensland, la costa del sol australiana

El 13 de junio viajé a Queensland para ver el Campeonato Selectivo Juvenil de la Región Norte y dictar un curso técnico al grupo de instructores que dirige el Maestro Jamie Moore, recientemente incorporado a la ITF del Grand Master Choi.

El Campeonato fue pequeño ya que participaron alrededor de 50 competidores previamente seleccionados. El nivel técnico fue similar al de la otra región y la organización muy prolija.

Fue una semana intensa y de mucho trabajo. Antes del Campeonato dicté un Seminario para Árbitros y Jueces, y al día siguiente comenzamos con los Seminarios técnicos. El grupo de Instructores del maestro Moore se caracteriza por poseer una incansable voluntad y técnica de primer nivel. Realmente me sorprendió encontrarme con algo que no abunda en estos tiempos: marcialidad y conocimiento técnico. Instructores con altas graduaciones y edades avanzadas con disposición increíble para la práctica del Taekwon-do.

Disfruté mucho de esos días en Queensland, de las prácticas y la compañía de auténticos Instructores de ITF. Quiero agradecer especialmente al Maestro Moore y a todo su grupo: Michael Kordanovski, Peter Sullivan, Neville Burn, Nigel Paul, Scott Bower, Phil Van Den Broek y Gary King. Una valiosa incorporación a nuestra Federación.

World Championships Australia 2006

As you all know, the 8 th ITF Juniors World Championships will be held between the 14 th – 16 th September, at the Arena Geelong, in Geelong city, Victoria, Australia.

For that reason I travelled to Melbourne city on last June 8 th where I taught the 4 th International Umpire Course for a large quantity of Instructors and, as I use to, I didn't miss the chance of slipping through several valuable technical aspects.

After the Course I attended to the southern region Juniors Selective Championships for Australia 2006. The standard was technicaly good and they almost followed all the oficial tournament regulations with some changes in order to make easier the competition development. The organization was perfect and was Instructor Michael Muleta's responsibility. This means that Australian people are working hard for this issue.

There is no doubt that Michael Mileta and his team are doing a great job for the World Championships organization –the first one in that continent- an it's just farther advanced in every detail.

Geelong is a small secure city with humble and kind people, sensitive to any sports expressions. I verified the stadium and I believe it was a very good choice. Hotels are next to the stadium; the chosen one for the Umpires and the ITF authorities is Four Points Sheraton Geelong , facing Corio Bay, an amazing place.

Our junior competitors will certainly live a great experience because I'm sure this event will be a definetily real party in which more than 20 countries have just confirmed their attendance.

I'm thankful with the Instructors that accompanied me during those gatherings in Melbourne: Civi Cruc, Steven Weston, Noel Keating, Chris Galibert, and congratulate Neil Cliff y Taso Kollis for their promotions VI y IV Degree respectively, to whom I had the honour of testing. And my very special thanks to Michael Muleta for his effort and huge job on ogranizing the 8 th ITF Juniors World Championships.

Queensland, the sunshine coast

On June 13 th I travelled to Queensland to attend the northern region Juniors Selective Championships and to teach a course for Master Jamie Moore's Instructors group –recently incorporated to Grand Master Choi's ITF-.

It was a small tournament with not more than 50 competitors previously selected. The standard was similar to the other region and the organization was neat and tidy.

It was an intense week with a lot of work. Before the championships I taught a seminar for Umpires, the following day we began with the Technical Seminars. Master Moore's Instructors group has got an indefatigable volition and a first level technique. Actually I was surprised to find something precious these days: martiality and technical knowledge. High graduated and aged Instructors with an incredible disposal for Taekwon-do training.

I enjoyed a lot those days in Queensland, I enjoyed the training sessions and the company of genuine ITF Instructors. I want to thank Master Moore and his group: Michael Kordanovski, Peter Sullivan, Neville Burn, Nigel Paul, Scott Bower, Phil Van Den Broek and Gary King. A valuable incorporation for our Federation.
